Identification papers – foreign citizens
are required to have passport or some other document accepted
with international agreement to enter Republic of Croatia.
Citizens of Republic of Slovenia may enter
with presentation of personal identification paper. Foreign
citizens without currently valid papers who come
as tourists or at business trip can issue a free border permit
at border police station on grounds of some other identification
card. Border permit is valid for three months.
Vehicle papers – traffic license,
green insurance card (except tourists from Austria), owners
authorization if vehicle is not driven by owner is required.
Animals – to bring an animal into
the country you will need international yellow sanitary card
for the animal and vaccination certificate (especially vaccination
against rabies). If foreign citizen doesn’t have certificates
mentioned above, official veterinarian at international border
can check his pet’s condition and issue a certificate
at certain cost.
International driving license – not
obligatory
Allowed amount of alcohol in blood – 0,5‰, for
professional drivers – 0,0‰.
Green insurance card – obligatory.
Allowed amount of foreign exchange brought into the country – unlimited
for foreigners.
Allowed amount of foreign exchange taken out of the country – unlimited
for foreigners.
Without paying custom expenses foreign citizen can bring
in Croatia :
- personal luggage, clothes and footwear and other items
for personal usage;
- 200 pieces of cigarettes, 1 bottle of alcohol beverage,
1 l of vine, 50 ml of perfume, 0,5 kg of coffee, 0,5 kg of
tea;
- technical items for personal usage (video camera, portable
TV, camping equipment, radio equipment…) can be brought
into the country but registration at border is obligatory;
- firearms can be brought into the country only with special
permit issued at the border police office;
- sport weaponry can be brought into the country with obligatory
registration at the border.
Help on the road Service
Croatian auto-club (HAK) provides help on the roads of Croatia.
Towing service is available 24 hours a day. Service of car
repair is available from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm. Unique number
of Road Help Service is 987. You can see many traffic signs
along the major roads displaying this number. Dialing this
number you can get help when you need it. Croatian auto-club
(HAK) is a member of international auto-club association – AIT.
Foreign citizens with credit letter can use services of Croatian
HAK under more favorable conditions.
